The progressive crystallization and ordering of low-temperature dolomites
نویسنده
چکیده
The progressive crystallization of dolomite has been investigated in the temperature range of 90 to 41o ~ by means of X-ray powder diffraction, electron microscopy, and infra-red spectroscopy. Short-time, low-temperature experiments ( ~ 145 ~ yielded dolomites with a high defect density. In detail, lattice faults can be described as: Random succession of more or less ordered cation domains, producing a long-range mosaic-type disorder; cation ordering may take place along and < ~ I~o); tilting and dislocation of individual COa groups; and irregular interstratification of dolomite layers of different chemical compositions in the crystallographic c-directions. Dolomites produced in experiments of longer duration are composed of an interstratification of essentially two chemically different dolomite layers, of which the stacking sequence is more perfect than it is at lower crystallization degrees. Both components grow rapidly at the expense of dolomites of intermediate composition. Finally, long-term low-temperature (145 ~ experiments produced two independent, coexistent dolomite phases. Within single dolomite layers cations now lie very close to their theoretical positions. COn-tilting and dislocation decreases markedly. Hydrothermal runs at temperatures > c. 145 ~ yielded one single, nearly stoichiometrie, highly ordered dolomite phase. Finally, dolomites synthesized at temperatures > c. 200 ~ are of an ideal chemical composition and have perfect lattice ordering.

In this research, dolomites of Shahbazan Formation (Eocene) in southwest Kermanshah were studied. Two surface sections were measwred and 98 samples were collected. Four types of dolomites were identified based on petrographic examinations. XRD results were used for determination of stoichiometry, degree of ordering and proportion of dolomite in samples. Results suggest that dolomicrites and do...

Upper Jurassic carbonate successions have excellent exposure in Binalud Mountains, west of Bojnurd, northeast and southwest Jajarm area with thickness of about 500m. Chert nodules are present in various shapes such as spherical, elliptical, elongated, discoid and irregular. Silicifications in these deposits are mostly replacement for the carbonate minerals. The presence of carbonate residues in...
متن کاملProgressive Type II Censored Order Statistics and their Concomitants: Some Stochastic Comparisons Results
In this paper we prove some stochastic comparisons results for progressive type II censored order statistics. The problem of stochastically comparing concomitants of the two progressive type II censored order statistics with possibly different schemes, under different kinds of dependence between X and Y is considered and it is proved that if Y is stochastically increasing (decreasing) in X, ...

The Zahri granitoid body has intruded into the Late Cretaceous ophiolitic rocks syn-tectonically. This granitoid with NW–SE general trend was emplaced along the terminations of Nehbandan shear system in the northern Sistan suture zone during the Early Eocene. Development of magmatic to low temperature solid-state fabrics have shown the progressive deformation with decreasing melt content during...

The Zarrin granitoids is located in the west of Yazd block, Central Iran. Zarrin granitoids exhibit mylonitic rocks ranging from protomylonitic to mylontic. In Zarrin granitoids examples of sub-magmatic, microstructures are represented by chessboard patterns in quartz and sub-magmatic fractures in plagioclase, indicating deformation at high-temperature conditions (T > 650º C) and the presence o...
